About The Artist

THE ART OF SEEING

I don't paint landscapes. I paint the experience of being in them.” For me, painting is a way of exploring the beauty, energy, and mystery of the natural world. Rather than depicting a specific place, I strive to capture the feeling of being there—the movement of water, the changing light, the rhythm of the landscape, and the emotions they awaken.

Working intuitively, I build each painting through layers of color, texture, and expressive brushwork until the composition finds its own balance. Every piece is an invitation to slow down, look deeper, and discover something personal within the work.

My hope is that each painting offers more than something beautiful to live with—that it creates a lasting connection, inspires curiosity, and reminds us of the wonder that surrounds us every day.

THE ARTIST'S APPROACH

PAINTING THE FEELING OF NATURE

Daniel's work is less concerned with reproducing a landscape and more interested in translating the experience of being immersed within it.

Water moves. Light changes. Landscapes shift. Memories remain.

These elements become the starting point for paintings built through colour, gesture, texture and intuition. Familiar forms may appear and disappear within layers of paint, leaving room for the viewer to bring their own memories and interpretations to the work.

A painting is complete when colour, movement and composition come together in a way that feels balanced.

COLLECTIONS

A CONTINUING EXPLORATION OF NATURE, MEMORY & ABSTRACTION

Across different bodies of work, Daniel explores the changing relationship between people and the natural world.

From fifteen years of paintings inspired by nature to the desert meeting the sea, from the emotional intensity of colour to the environmental story of Colorado's forests, each collection offers a different perspective on place and experience.

WONDERS OF NATURE

A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME

This collection brings together paintings created over the past fifteen years, offering a glimpse into both the changing landscape of nature and Daniel's own journey as an artist.

The work isn't about depicting a particular place. Instead, it captures the feeling of being immersed in nature—the movement of water, shifting light, the rhythm of the land and the quiet energy connecting them.

Recurring themes emerge naturally throughout the collection, shaped by intuition and a lifelong fascination with the beauty and mystery of the natural world.

MINDSCAPES

THE SEA OF CORTEZ

MINDSCAPES – The Sea of Cortez explores the meeting place between land, water, memory and emotion.

Inspired by the shifting landscape of the Sea of Cortez, the collection reflects the tension and harmony between desert and sea, stillness and movement, light and shadow.

Rather than depicting literal views, these paintings are interpretations of place—filtered through memory, atmosphere and feeling.

Turquoise water, warm earth tones and changing horizons become abstract forms layered with texture, gesture and movement.

The Sea of Cortez feels both vast and intimate. Through this collection, Daniel seeks to capture the emotional landscape of standing where desert meets sea, where time slows and nature feels both powerful and restorative.

CHROMATIC PRESENCE

COLOR AS A LIVING EXPERIENCE

Chromatic Presence explores the dynamic relationship between colour, movement and emotion.

Bold strokes, layered textures and intense variations in hue and value create compositions filled with energy and fluidity.

Here, colour becomes more than a visual element. It becomes a presence—shaping space, creating mood and capturing fleeting moments of expression.

The collection celebrates the transformative power of abstraction, offering a deeply personal yet universally resonant experience.

SPAIN MINI'S

INTIMATE STUDIES IN COLOUR & FORM

Spain Mini's brings together a series of smaller-scale works exploring colour, texture, gesture and the fleeting impressions of place.

Intimate in scale but expressive in character, these paintings distil Daniel's approach into concentrated compositions where every mark and layer contributes to the experience.

The collection invites a closer look—encouraging viewers to discover the details, textures and unexpected relationships within each small work.

BLUE STAIN

LANDSCAPE, CHANGE & REGENERATION

Growing up in Colorado, Daniel is continually reminded of the majesty of the Rocky Mountains and the natural environment that surrounds him.

Blue Stain emerged from a growing awareness of the decline of Colorado's pine forests. Forests that once appeared green can transform into vast expanses of orange as trees are affected by infestation and decay.

The paintings draw from this sense of concern while also recognising the unexpected beauty within the process.

Organic forms, tree rings and remnants of the forest become visual material. The distinctive blue staining found within affected trees becomes both a mark and a metaphor—a record of change written into the wood.

The work raises questions without attempting to answer them:

Is this nature's way of regeneration?

What will this habitat look like in 10 years?

What will remain in 50?

Rather than simply documenting loss, Blue Stain explores the formal beauty of transformation, decay and regeneration.

THE COLLECTIONS AS A JOURNEY

FROM LANDSCAPE TO MEMORY

Taken together, these collections reveal an evolving exploration of the natural world.

Wonders of Nature looks across fifteen years of observation and artistic development.

Mindscapes explores the emotional experience of a specific place.

Chromatic Presence moves further into colour, energy and abstraction.

Spain Mini's turns inward through intimate works and concentrated compositions.

Blue Stain considers environmental change, mortality and regeneration.

Although each collection has its own character, they share a common thread:

A fascination with how nature is experienced, remembered and transformed through painting.

BEYOND THE LANDSCAPE

AN INVITATION TO LOOK CLOSER

Daniel's paintings are deliberately open to interpretation.

A shape might suggest water, stone, vegetation or something entirely imagined. A colour may trigger a memory. A texture may recall a place that exists only in the viewer's own experience.

There is no single way to enter the work.

The intention is to create an encounter—to give the viewer a reason to pause, look again and form their own relationship with the painting.

Every viewer brings their own landscape to the canvas.
